Feng Shui & House Plants

House plants give life and joy to a space, but what does Feng Shui say about indoor plants?

Living green plants represent the wood element, which is said to cultivate human hardiness, flexibility, healing and growth. So not only can you bring these qualities into your life and home by adding plants, but by bringing in the element of nature into your interior space you will have more harmony between your inner environment and outer environment.

I like the sound of 'healing and growth'.

My favourite 3 of her tips are below.

  1. Soft, rounded and heart shaped leaves bring ease and flow into your life and space
  2. Coin shaped leaves are thought to bring fortune, hence the Jade or Money plant with its lush full rounded leaves.
  3. Sharp spikes can offer a feeling a protection. Snake plants may be a good choice for hallways or the sides of a front door.

The heart-shaped foliage is a definite attraction for me.  The leaves of the Monstera Deliciosa, Philodendron Brasil and Scindapsus Pictus definitely catch my eye for this reason.

I do think though that the most important thing is that your plants make you happy.

Put them where they thrive and you will too!
