hoya propagation and house plant care in winter

3 Checks for your houseplants in winter

Winter brings changes in light, temperature and watering needs.

Here are our 3 tips to check your plant needs in the cooler season.

1. Lighting

Sunlight is lower and softer in winter.

Consider moving your plants closer to their light source or supplement a grey day with a grow light.

2. Watering

Reduce watering in winter. With less growth, your plant needs less. With the lower temps, evaporation slows.

3. Temperature

Check for both extremes...

Heat - Move any plants away from a direct heat source (fireplace or heat pump).

Cold - Move any sensitive plants away from any uncovered windows.

Succulents are hardy and can handle a cold windowsill. Add a glass cloche or cover to any props or cuttings.
